Getting Ready for Your Consultation

Preparing for your Comprehensive Cancer Consultation

Booking your appointment

  • Contact the office to schedule your initial appointment. A Patient Care Advisor will be assigned to you at that time.
  • Your Advisor will help collect and forward medical records to us for the doctor’s review before your appointment. Bringing medical records with you also works but it may not be as efficient as getting them to us before your appointment.

Forms

  • You should open and print out the PDF document: Health History and Cancer Questionnaire.  Please complete this form to the best of your ability before your appointment.  Be sure to bring this with you!

What to expect

  • Dr. Schwengel will review your medical records and take a careful history of your diagnosis – when and how it began, what has been done so far and what your goals for treatment are. He will probe into related circumstances in your life such as occupational or other forms of exposure to common toxins, diet, supplements and other important aspects of your life. It is common that many people also have deeper, more personal life issues that may be related.
  • A computerized biofeedback system is used that helps provide important information in building your Health Profile. The specific details of individualized program of care is based on the composite information contained in your Profile.
  • Dr. Schwengel will provide you with a written “Integrative Medicine Program of Care”. This outlines our therapies and why each one is important. Your Patient Care Advisor will then review your care plan, answer questions and assist with scheduling.

Bring someone with you

  • The nature of Integrative Medicine and how we look at and understand cancer is quite different than the conventional. You are welcome to bring someone with you whose insight and opinions you trust to serve as a second set of ears. This person is referred to as your “Advocate”.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you soon.
